Growing up in northern Michigan, I spent a lot of time outside, from cross country skiing with my parents to camping with my aunts and cousins, hunting deer with my dad and fishing with my grandpa, spending summer breaks at our family's Upper Peninsula cottage and swimming in Lake Michigan after hard summer jobs in high school.
I've maintained a lifelong love of the outdoors and constantly pursue new skills and forms of outdoor recreation while seeking to better understand and improve the environmental factors upon which our outdoor recreation activities depend. Michigan Outside is my way of sharing what I've experienced and learned with anyone who loves to spend time outside in Michigan.
